Well, after a few well-deserved setbacks, we riveted the final strake onto the Edith yesterday, and will roll her right-side up in an hour or two. She sure is cute--I fear all the boy boats will be hitting relentlessly on her. Here are a couple shots. Lots more on fretwaterlines.blogspot.com

Yes, I resonate with the memories and lessons learned during that time, the wood as teacher, along with those short, hysterical Briggs one-liners, coupled with Lucas's, Oh, you've got it all wrong.... Does it seem like 10 years since Julius?? I'm pleased that time served as a seeming launch point for your expanded career. Great job(s).

No, the canvas boat was just for flay water work around Phantom Ranch.
Roger, this whole project has brought back a lot of memories of Julius's genesis ten years ago. Both Dan and I have related several anecdotes as we try to muddle through, lessons learned, lessons forgotten, Sam Johnson's five-minute tutorial on lapstraking, and our biggest lesson of all, "listen to the wood."

Beautiful work and lovely story. Ya gonna build a Kolb canvass boat in a day and take it a long too?!? And about the video camera -- be sure to do it. Per Greg Hatten's experience i invested in a Contour HD. Love it. Great for underwater work too, which you may need from time to time. HA

Haha.  All the better.  You will remain a mystical legend!

Oh, and it looks like we're off-cycle for a river rendezvous, Kelly. I get off the water September 30 and launch again October 13. Drat and blast.

Yeah, those little camera's are pretty cool.  I'm gonna try to come up with some sort of mount to catch the right angle.  Matt Fahey found some good angles for the rafts.  Also, look into a polarizer lens incase you're shooting in the intense sun.  Can't wait to see Edith catching some air in Hermit!

My videographer just turned me on to the waterproof GoPro video camera. Under $300. Way cool, high res bomber gizmo. If Emery and Ellsworth took a movie camera, so must I. Mount it on the bow, on the stern, on my head, on the shore...

Makes me smile just looking at these photos. Now thats the way to build a boat! Take care of her as she rockets along at 40k. Whewee. I hope you're taking a videographer on your trip. Love the blog. Can't wait to take some time checking it out.

Any GC trips in Sept? I'll be launching on the 28th. If so my boat will be hitting on your boat.
