Happy Holidays everyone. Hope you all have some time off to relax and enjoy time with friends and family.

Well the busy holiday has kept me on the go... but I have been able to sneak in some build time.
Worked on the front passenger seat - getting the hinge fit and screwed together. I will probably not attach the lid permanently to the seat frame until I decide which finish I am going to use on the interior. The seat backs are glued and rough sanded as well.

The weep holes have been drilled out of the frame bottoms and rough sanded to take the hard edge off.
I also managed to measure and notch the frames for the chine.
The notched section has been left in until they are installed in the boat - then I will trim the small amount holding them together out when I am ready for the chine. I had to retrofit my metal vice bc I do not have a nice woodworking vice right now... worked out pretty well.

Here are some pics of the progress. In no particular order.
Let me know if anything looks horribly wrong!
Thanks for looking.
Jason

Jason, Thanks very much for alerting me about these pictures. There are multiple details in the photos which will be helpful to me. I knew immediately that the "saw horses" would produce some commentary.

Great photos. I really like the slats in the middle seat back. I assume they hold your oar blades during transit? I've never seen that before, great idea.

Ha thanks - I just cut some poplar strips and corded them on there as a temp. wood vice.

Looks great. I love the soft jaws on the vise.

Haha - I knew the six pack saw horses would come in handy so I made sure to "make a couple" should I need them... Thanks for the encouragement guys - it gets exciting when you see some things start to take shape.
I seriously cannot wait to start building the hull! now that must be exciting...

Wow... great progress. Your "sanded" seats look good!! I too, like the "six pack saw horses" - if you can find a way to incorporate that permanently - you should!! Well done.
