"I removed CoatIt epoxy coating.  A heat gun and scraping worked best.  Don't know about removing Kevlar cloth.  I suspect sanding would be necessary."

"I agree that 5200 locks things together.  That was my point in mentioning alternative caulks and by "glue" I mistakenly thought you were talking about two-part epoxies or some such."

Jonathan Clarke replied to Sandy Pittendrigh's discussion Caulk instead of glue
"Sort of kind of.  My Tatman kit boat went together with SPAX screws and 3M 5200.  The 5200 isn't exactly a glue, but it's categorized as a permanent caulk.  Considering the way I use the boat, if I had it to do over again, I…"

Good Day,

How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on:(mrsstellaabudheir@gmail.com ) for the full details.

Have a nice day

Thanks God bless.

Stella.

Thanks for the intel, Jonathon. I am exploring options and will keep you posted. I am certainly in favor of going this route. My boat is a restoration project and frankly, I want to get it in the water. I want it to look nice, but also want to be realistic about how much $ i put into it vs how much I paid for it, etc. I am also of the mindset that boats will take a bit of a beating, so i want the paint to hold up, but i won't cry if I get scratches, so to speak. Going the route of thinks like Toplac seem time and cost intensive , . . which if this was a boat I built from scratch, i would go that route. Now I want to get it in the water to fish.

Thanks!

sam

Can you elaborate on the stone tube bushing arrangement for me ? I am building my own trailer and would like your comments. Thanks Steve

Jonathon,
Thanks for the note. I think you can get one of those frying pans from Cabela's. That is where I got my last one. I live in Big Rapids, MI. I have a place on the Muskegon. I have always needed to be near water......

Thanks on the FJ comment... it was my "winter project" before the boat. It's a pretty rare one - 1983, last year they were made. Toyota only sent 300 over to the U.S. that year. It is as close to "Original" as I could make it.
Now it's a "Steelhead Chasin Machine" and will go just about anywhere.

Yup - just read a nice article about big smallmouth on the Menomonee. Pretty cool.

Thanks for the kind words about the boat.

I live in the western end of the state, but I've traveled and fished a little in northeast WI and in the U.P. and love both. The Menomonee River is a terrific drift boat destination.

I don't think Door County changes much. Parts of it are terribly commercialized while other parts of it remain pleasantly undeveloped. Three friends and I went fly fishing for carp on the flats on the lakeside last summer. Hadn't done it before, but would happily do it again and plan to do that next summer.

Hey Jonathan... nice boat and nice "pics" - love that Tatman!!! I lived in Green Bay for a couple of years and traveled the U.P. as a salesman. Is Door County still as pretty as I remember it??
