I am sanding the inside of my of project...does any one else find this daunting? Wow! I have 2 coats of the System 3 clear coat epoxy applied , sanding with 150 to 180 grit then will apply System 3 Spar urethane. Has anyone sprayed this on ? Can one wait 3 to 5 hours an apply another coat without sanding in between. Or should I just suck it up and sand and coat and sand and coat with the brush and roller ,waiting 24 hours between coats? I have 7 coats on the outside with the later technique, but all the ribs etc. are endless. I think oiling may have been better? The water is calling. Another question... On the System 3 epoxy and maybe others, have only used System 3 products, why the 2 week wait for cure before applying finish does the application of varnish halt the final cure? Have some 90 to 100 days here. Thanks Steve

Hi Steve;

Are you working on a Douglas Fir plywood boat?

Ray
Charles, douglas fir bottom(plywood) and ribs, meranti (hydrotek) plywood and white oak rails with some walnut in my seat structures. I, in hind site, should have coated all surfaces, not just where the ribs meet the side and such, before assembly . Learning curve, 1st timer... would have done a few things different. Steve
Hey Steve I fully sympathize with you. I put seven on the interior and I think oil may be the way to go too. It does look good when done. My friend who fixes cars says you can spray it on but it would require a nice spray gun. He was proud to say he could make it all look like glass but never came over to help. Anyway I think we are building the same boat from plans and I feel for you. It will be rewarding at some point, I had to take my time between coats because my back hurt so much from bending and sanding. Good Luck
Bryan, I appreciate your sharing in the pain. I took a few days and worked on some other things...one evening went through all the pictures on this site , that helped, and am ready to go again. Jjust one little task and then the next and soon will be in the water. I am about to apply the first inside coat this morning...(1015 a.m. here Monday) Thanks Steve
