Sorry I had a comment on another forum about the bendaliity of red oak.
Both "good" epoxies and varnishes have UV inhibiters in them to protect the surface. We have also used polyeurthanes with much success.
Should not have used the words "water proof". They do not call water the universal solvent for nothing. Maybe, I should have used some what water resistant!
Please remember most of the prams are graged stored out of the sun and not left in the water for lenghtly periods.
