It's hard to go float down rivers- ideas seem to always start in camp, typically over a beer or G+T, often on the Deschutes.

So, the next boat. I'm curious whether anyone has thoughts on the 16x48 without a transom- the true double ender? Anyone built one from Roger Fletcher's plans, and willing to share pictures? I'm also considering the 14' double ender.  I will probably change the plans to have a small flat spot in the rocker profile.

The plan is to stitch and glue with  GC style decks through the rower seat, then an adjustable front seat that could be switched out for a cooler when flying solo. Mostly for solo trips on the Deschutes, but also better for the MF, Rogue, etc than the full-size dory I have now. Adding to the quiver.

Any pictures or past similar builds would be great. Ideas? Thoughts?

Ben, if you ever get over to the Eugene area, you can see a beauty of a double-ender that Steve Steele built for the Cabela's store in Springfield.  They have it mounted on a wall.

Take a look a Andy Hutchinson's picture "Woody". Stitch and glue 16' double ender using Roger's plans. Decked for white water.
Check out Dave Z's new plans for a DE. The PA drifter. It's a super cool boat with a little less rocker than the originals. downhomeboatworks.com
