Favorite Rotary or Oscillating Tool

I am considering purchasing an oscillating tool of some kind, like a Rockwell or Dremel

I would be using it for cutting small notches (chine channels for example) and for rasping/sanding in small areas where a hand rasp just doesn't cut it. What are your thoughts on these? Is it worth having in the shop?

AJ bought a Fein tool and it has turned out to be very useful in alot of ways.Saw blades cut into those hard to reach places ,the metal cutting blade easily dissposes of those ring shanks on restores and the oscitating scraper makes very easy work of removing dried fiberglass excess and adhesives like 5200 and 101 such as removing chine caps.Expensive ,sure ,but you get what you pay for,a versatile tool ,well made and time saving on many applications....and once you have one you'll start to make new friends ...

I second this suggestion. I own a Fein multi-tool and wore it out I used it so much. They are invaluable for remodel or rework projects were you are removing and replacing pieces that have already been installed.

There are now multi-tool knock offs so you have choices of quality and price if you don't want to pony up for the Fein. I'm happy that I did. Craftsman makes a multi-tool and I think you can even get a cheap version now at Harbor Freight.

Sounds and looks like Fein is the way to go... I will have to look into this. I am getting very well acquainted, at this point though, with my rasp and chisels. I think I almost like them more now than ever!

Looks like now might be a good time to invest in a fine Fein tool, if you want the fancy brand:

This is great information! I seem to be leaning more towards the Fein. With a price like that on a top notch tool, it's hard to pass up.
