Dave's Drift Pram 2.0- prototype build

I have been busy building this boat.  Going very well.  Decided to use all fir on this one.  Don't be alarmed on those footballs on the exterior panels- the inside faces are perfect. I bought the fir "scratch and dent" on sale for a very good price.

Plan is to have her flipped by sunday.

All designed up here guys...  The last month or so I have been playing arts and crafts at the kitchen table with posterboard, tape and scaled lumber.  After several attempts that never met my satisfaction, I think I've arrived at the new design.

I built a 1"=1' model this weekend after getting my final lines together.  Specs:

Sheer Length: 13'-0

Beam: 5'-7"

Bottom Width: 3'-10"

Side Height: 1'-9"

Im finalizing the bill of material and locating sources at the moment.  I hope to have this boat in the water by first week of May.

This looks great Dave. I am going to get the little Z pram in the water as soon as the weather lets up here and see how it pushes around with that little outboard setup. Are you goin to offer a plan for this boat?

Yessir there will be plans made available.  I'm in the material procurement phase, but ought to be making sawdust soon here if we ever get unfrozen!

Let us know how that little outboard does... im going to be outboarding the new boat too.

Have you added another link to your plans?  I purchased your z-pram from River's Touch.  Beautiful boat.  Just about to put the sides to the frames and transoms.

I'm looking for a small pram, under 8', to build with elementary aged (12) students.  I picked up plans for the Moby Dink from Glen-L.  Boy, it's got curves.  I couldn't bend the chines without breaking.  I might add four inches to the bow and stern width, and take out some of the curve on the bottom.  I don't know how many people built the Moby Dink successfully.  Not many pics out there.  Any ideas?

I'm getting broken links and latin pages from your link. I am currently building the Z drifter.Do use sikkens 391 for glueing penals to frames?

Dave has deleted the link. There are a variety of choices for fastening panels to the frames. Silicon-Bronze nails and epoxy, just nails or stainless steel screws. I suppose you could use sikkens 391 but I haven't heard of anyone doing it in the last few years that I have been hanging around here. Perhaps someone else can chime in here and give more advice.
