I purchased Rogers book about 6 months ago and decided on a Rapid Robert for my first build. A lot of reading and as soon as I started laying out frames I came up with a question.
For the side frame pieces, on page 226 it mentions they are to be tapered to 1-1/4 at the sheer and 2-1/2 at the base. I am assuming the dimension is measured 90° from the long edge, but from what point on the beveled edge? From the widest side of the frame (i.e. measured before the bevel is cut), or the narrowest at the edge of the bevel (after the bevel is cut)?
Any input is greatly appreciated. I have worked as a cabinetmaker/custom door builder - so making the cuts and bevels is not an issue - just want to make sure I have the measurements correct.

I measured from the short point of the bevel, giving the frame more meat - although I'm not sure it matters as long as you're consistent.

Thanks for the input. I just put together one frame to figure out the order of the cuts/bevels, I have some additional planning to do. :)

It doesn't matter on the bottom. If you are using 1x4 I just get as much meat as I can. If having them consistent is an issue for you then build the frame/rib with the most bevel (likely the front most one) first as it will be the narrowest cuz of the bevel then use that measurement for the rest.
