I just happen to be watching a National Geographic special about recreating parts of the Titanic, incredible timing. They bent a stem from an eight foot long piece of steel probably three inches by twelve inches using the original techniques. They showed the lofting floor where they made the original drawings and then the patterns for the metal ribs and such. Amazing stuff. While it wasn't wood it was still intriguing especially given the technology they used a century ago.
Yeah, it puts our tribulations in the garage on a one-winter plywood boat in perspective. I love his reaction to losing his foot. Ah, coulda been worse.
