I just spent a scary afternoon in the Sore Thumb. Poor girl has had some rough years. The jury is out on what can be done but I do hope to bring her back to life. Going to try some ethylene glycol rot-stopping tomorrow, then go on the river forvtwo weeks while the boat bakes in the attic. Then try some penetrating epoxy. If that doesn't work, it would be a matter of replacing the boat piece by piece. Which is no longer a restoration but rather a replacement. At the very least all the decking will have to be replaced. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the kind words! I guess if you do what you love, you're going to love what you do.

Outstanding work there Brad.  I totally agree with Rick - visual interpretations, wordsmithing, boat building, river running.... fantastic!!

We saw the "Thumb" up here last year at the McKenzie River Boat Festival and it's nice to know it is in your capable hands now.  Can't wait to see updates and pics on that one!!

Well done brother.

Gosh Rick. Thanks!

The rebuilding can start with the knees, although I am not sure I want authentic replacements. Maybe lets go with the more modern materials next time.

Brad, you are a national treasure. I hope that someday someone will come along that will rebuild you so the next generations can learn from you. Your visual interpretations and wordsmithing skills are very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!

If you folks haven't yet visited fretwaterlines you really should.
