Happy Monday fellas...
Well had some time the past week to work on the boat.
Finally turned her over and started working on the rails and stem/transom angles.

As of the now the rails are glued on with the holes drilled for the bolts to pass through... I will install the bolts after the rails are varnished. I pre-varnished the one side of the interior rails because it seemed impossible to get at the area after it was attached. I did not want to varnish before assembly because I have a tendency to ding the work with clamps and whatnot - so it will be finished last. I put a 1 1/2" stainless screw through the outer rail into the stem on both sides for insurance that it will not separate - then cut a couple plugs to fill the countersink (still need to trim and sand the plugs flush - not shown in photos) Managed to get a pretty tight fit on all cuts/angles - so that was cool. And I did not miss with any of the bolts through the rail is a miracle in itself! ha! ( I was sweating that part until I got a few done - then I moved though pretty easily.

I also cut the rough angles on the stem and transom to match that of the rail.
The transom looks like it needs a bit taken off the top and it will be about right.

Not that the boat is upright and the rails are installed, I can focus on getting them nice and smooth - then apply my Captains varnish to them. The interior of the hull will all be oil - but I wanted varnished handrails. All high traffic areas in the boat will be varnish for ease of keeping it clean.

The project is getting exciting as the weather warms and she takes shape... My motivation to work has ramped up and I feel like I am making good progress most days.

Here are a few pics I took while working.
Thanks for looking!
Jason
