River season draws to a close--finally

Howdy all,

I am trying to catch up with my boating blog after a ridiculous river season. I just put up some shots of our new aluminum/wood hybrid boat (what?!?!), the Betty Boop's return to Grand Canyon, and a few other shots from along the way.

Now it is back to the boatshop for the winter. Hoping to build two dories, a drift boat or two, and a Nevills Cataract boat replica. Yahoo!

Excellent, Mark. It was great to run into y'all down there. We finished the trip without any more dory incidents, although we did roll the paddle boat in Horn Creek.

I'm busy ordering thousands of dollars worth of wood this weekend. Let the winter games begin.

Brad,

Great to meet you at Phantom, wish I could have spent more time talking dories with you. 8000 in a hard boat was definately an eye opener for me. So respect everything you all do down here in hard boats.  Gypsy Soul lived up to everything I hoped for.  Did get our flip out of the way in Upset, great experience (there is no substitute).  Won't miss cracking that top lateral next year!  Can't wait till June.  Hope to build a sister this winter!

Cheers,

Mark
