Well I'm building a 17 54 baker drift boat. So far I've got a pallet of expensive ply wood and one scarf cut

Has anybody got a source for those cool boweyes that the tatman boats came with? I tried to contact randy but to no avail.

I think Mike Baker is a supplier of Dierks Products. here is the link to some Parts that work pretty good if you don't mind tapping and threading the parts yourself

http://www.dierksanchors.com/products.html

Thanks Jayson, I'll contact him

I used the dierks ones too but they are cast. Not as strong as billet. I tapped 3 1/4-20 screws about .75" deep and jb welded screws in. Make sure if u use them to make them as strong as possible.

Thanks Chris, I doubt it would matter at all, but would there be a worry of galvanic reaction between steel bolts and the aluminum?

Got one side glassed last night and a flow coat on this morning.  Maybe another coat at lunch just to be safe.  4 oz plain weave is way easier to work with than 20 triax

Aint that the truth. I used 6oz on the sides and it was fun and easy. I just used 12oz biax on the bottom, not so much fun and easy, lol. Looking good, you`ll be floating soon !

We're getting there.  I didn't really fair the sides as well as I thought I had near the transom but it'll be ok.  Hopefully the fluorescent light just highlights it more than natural light will.  I'm going to roll on a few more coats then sand it down and put a few more on.  Got my chine caps and transom trim ready too! With any luck I'll be chasing river stripers by June.

Is there any reason not to attach the stem cap with epoxy?  Going to do that today and get the chine caps installed as well(with LifeCaulk).

Other than easy replacement, there's no reason not to use epoxy.

Thanks David, pretty much what I figured.

So just wondering, is that paint on the sides? Might want to hold off on any finish coats till you cut the transom down and sanded.

I put my stem cap on with thickened epoxy, but I also installed my outer top rail with it too after my stem cap was on, (yours wont be as pointy but same idea) and also my transom trim after the top rails were on. Used mostly clamps (which I didnt have as many as I had wished) so I ran a few screws from the inside of the ply into the rail along with the clamps.

So your getting close to your projected June fishing!!! Boats looking good :)
