Hi there. I just ordered some plans off of ebay from an individual. The plans are for a 14' Rapid Robert. I am really pumped! Any advice/tips for a first time boat builder?
thanks
Ron
Yes, get Roger Fletcher's book; Drift Boats and River Dories, Their History, Design, Construction and Use. It is an invaluable resource and motivator. It also provides a greater understanding of your boat's place in history, how it was developed and why. His web site is http://riverstouch.com/. I have no connection with Roger, but I sure do like his book and appreciate the information provided within the pages.
Secondarily as long as you are asking I would look over all the blog and forum entries, there is a wealth of information and many of the questions you will find you self asking have been discussed and answered there.
Other than that enjoy the process, share your pictures here, have fun and enjoy the Wooden Boat People web site!
