I took the glass of the base of a 70's woody and am wondering when to pull the trigger on wood replacement surgery.  Any advice wood be helpful. Pun intended.

Is that the extent of the rot? How about your chine logs and the area where the bottom meets the side? Holes like that can be patched, search the site and you'll see several past posts that discuss how. Post more pictures and we can help more. Welcome aboard!

All glass and paint is off and that's the extent of the rot. This one didn't come with chine battons so I'll have to construct some when the time comes. All other wood is pocky but not rotty. I figure it's more an aspect of cheap wood than moisture issue and compromised integrity. I figured that patching would be an option and will look into it. I guess my primary concern is to kill the fungus prior to covering it. Thanks.
Hello Timothy, check out this site; http://www.systemthree.com/store/pc/Rot-Fix-c39.htm System Three has a good selection of products to help you out. Search the site here for wood rot, you will also find more posts from the last few years. I realize there are no chine battens, however are there chine logs on the inside where the side and bottom meet. It is a favorite site for rot and moisture. There are pictures of my drift boat showing this in case you have any questions.
