Outstanding pics! I needed to build a nice tool box and you gave me a good idea. My dad and I have made several similar to yours except we made "cribs for chisels and Yankee drivers where you put leather strapping. I favor the leather idea.

That yellow handle on my Yankee driver....Painted that with Awl Grip linear poly paint back in the early 90s and have used it ever since.  Don't let anyone tell you that fancy two part paint is no good...that stuff is tough!  The other guys at the boat shop got hold of my Stanley thermos and painted it like a barber pole...I still have that, too...wish I could lose it, but it has good visibility with the red and white Awl Grip stripes.

  I put a flow-coat of West epoxy with coloidial silica thickener on the bottom of this box...makes it easy to load or slide around on floors or concrete and it should keep the moisture right out if I put the thing in snow or mud.

  Good Morning,

 

  I think most all of the linear polyurethane finishes are probably similar in quality.  It's been a few years since my last painting project, so I will do a bit of research to check for new tech developments before I do my next boat project. 

I am currently planning a fancy composite boat similiar to those I see from Livingston, Mt.  I will probably use the Interthane or Petit, since I am  familiar with those systems. 

The sailboard in the attached files was painted with Interthane Plus and spent about 6 full winters in the sun in Baja and Texas.  It's been wired to that tree for about 10yrs, too.   Amazingly durable finish.  This was painted over West epoxy.  I used the proper two part epoxy primer as specified.  On that board, after the painting was done, I rolled a coat of West epoxy onto the deck and added some silica non-skid.  That made a nice deck finish but after about 5yrs it wore pretty thin.   The paint stayed perfect.

The "Let er Buck" logo seems very appropriate for a sailboard. Isn't it a law that you must wear cowboy boots and a hat at all times in Wyoming? :<) Sure would make sailboarding exciting!

Hahaha yeah! I'd like to see a pic of a girl wearing a pair of buckeroos and a hat sail boarding down the snake river.
