I found something interesting at Duckworks... Raptor composite nails.

Here is the Link --> http://www.duckworksbbs.com/tools/raptor/15g-nails/index.htm

Also, here is the company website... http://www.raptornails.com/apps.php

Has anyone had experience with these?

Very interesting.  This needs some testing.

These nails have been used for several years, especially in the process of cold-molding plywood hulls. Visit Wooden Boat Forum. The nails have a pretty good reputation over there. It would make it easier to get through the metal detector at the airport if you missed and shot yourself with one:<)

Looks cool, except possibly for pieces that experience shear forces (probably not a big deal for most of our apps).

Although that might lead to something cool too - I'm thinking "break-away" boat parts; like maybe strakes for the hull bottom...

Your hull becomes more hydrodynamic, and if you hit a rock sideways; you don't tip, the nails just shear off and the strakes break away.
