I haven't posted here in quite awhile and thought I'd share a bit of the happenings in the shop over the last couple years. I have had close to 30 boats come through the shop in the last 3 1/2 years either being full custom builds or repairs, finishes and/or restorations. I will only share my favorites for now since this could turn into an all day project if I list them all, ha!

I did a neat scaled down version of Woodie Hindmans double ender for a gentleman on the Mckenzie to be placed in his home above the kitchen in the vaulted ceiling. Its scaled down to 3/4"=1'-0" so it ended up being just over 10' and even had some custom oars made to scale by Dave Z out of solid ash he milled from his timber on his property

then a fun build for Randy Dersham that was a fund raising project for the McKenzie River Guides Association, She was named "Charity" and had her maiden float with OPB on the Rogue river just a day after the last coat of Varnish was laid down

then a sweet 16 1/2 x 50 boat for Kevin Hawkins for guiding on the Middle Fork Salmon with Helfrich River Outfitters

I liked the boat so much that I build one for myself too

then a beautiful restoration for a gentleman up the McKenzie on his Fathers Keith Steele 16x48, it was a painted boat that he wanted a natural finish on and I talked him into a transparent stain

then a 17x52 boat for Aaron Helfrich

 A 16 1/2 x 50 for Kelsey Helfrich

 another 16 1/2 x 50 for a gentleman in Eugene, Oregon

then did a really fun build for Charlie Card, a guide over in Utah who guides the Green River through the Flaming Gorge, he is the most requested guide in the area

and then another 16 1/2 x 50 for Garrett Helfrich for his Middle Fork of the Salmon boat

Garrett and Kevin on the Middle Fork

5 day boat building workshop at the Mckenzie River Discovery Center back in April

that is the historic workshop that Keith Steele started his boat building career when he worked for the hatchery way back in the day

and then the cool new boat badges that are now going out on all the builds coming through the shop, the Logo credit goes to Robb Grubb who designed it for me awhile back

unfortunately Randy's beautiful boat Charity and Roberts Keith Steele restoration were both lost in the Holiday Farm Fire on the McKenzie last fall but I will be starting a replacement for Roberts boat in the next month to match his restoration so I might go ahead and start a blog post here on the site to share the process. thanks for letting me share

Hi Jayson. Those boats are all amazing.

Thanks, Guy!

Beautiful work, love the natural wood finishes and that rear casting brace is very cool!

thank you, that was a fun build and have an outfitter thinking about ordering up 2 or 3 of them this fall.........I might be getting really busy here shortly

As always, great work! Have your ever thought about making belt buckles with your logo? I would buy one!

Rick Newman

Funny you should mention the buckles Rick, you are now the 3rd person to ask about it and by bronze guy has done lots in the past and thinks it would be a fun project! I'll keep ya posted

Thanks, I would buy one if the price wasn't too outrageous.

Rick

I love the look of that green stain, didn’t see that on your IG

Nicely done, Jayson
