Launch of Glen Canyon at Glen Canyon

Just back from a commercial Grand Canyon trip in my old Briggs boat. It still knows the way through.

Here are some pictures of the hand-off of the Glen Canyon to the new owners two weeks ago, and the launch at Lee's Ferry for its voyage to Glen Canyon Dam, where it will live. It'll run the flatwater daily stretch from G.C. Dam to Lee's Ferry (15 miles).

The upstream launch happened to coincide with my downstream launch, so I got to be there.

Just got off a second Grand Canyon trip, of eight scheduled for this season. It'll be trip six when the two new Briggs boats se the water, in late August. The dory trip went fine, and the paddle boat trip went fine as well. Just got word that the Glen Canyon escaped from the dam, but was apprehended a few miles into its journey to Lees Ferry. Spirited little thing!

Beautiful. Love the photos. How was your commercial Grand trip by the way? How did the new boats do?

Great work as always. I fished the the Ferry several times and it is like no place on earth.

I bet Dave would be happy to see one of his workhorses towing a gorgeous boat.

That's not me towing that boat--it's the new owner.
Rick--thanks! I've been in on all or part of about eight or ten boats of varying hull configurations. I'm just a new guy.

Better than being towed by a Udisco

I can't believe you would tow that beautiful boat behind a DIB. Just doesn't seem right.

Brad, yo do great work. The Glen Canyon looks wonderful. How many have you built now?

I believe I was thinking, "I wonder if these guys will get it to the dam before they bust it up?"

So Brad, what were your thoughts? A curiously melancholy expression . . . Nice work, by tjhe way.
