drift boat anchor system
does anyone have any detailed pics of their anchor system.I will be needing one for my 15" rapid robert.thankyou!

Drue, I have taken many pictures at the McKenzie River Wooden Boat Festival over several years. I have posted lots of them on my Page here on the site. You can look through the albums and hopefully find what you want. You can also use the search function to look up the multiple posts on anchors.

You can purchase a system from Dierks Anchor systems;

Or, you can make your own custom system. (it's less costly too).
Here's a couple of pics of the one I made:
The top piece has two pulleys inside, at either end.
The steel pulleys (not shown) w/bronze bushings are steel with thin plastic thrust bushings on either side. The steel pins are captured between the two side plates.
There is a Block (Pulley) located at the base of the transom.
The second Block is located below the front of the rowers seat. Both blocks are the same design. A steel pulley w/bronze bushing and steel axle (pin).
The Jam Cleat is purchased, under $ 20. It works fine, except when the temp is below Zero and the water in the rope freezes. If I build another one I'd add a little more clearance in the blocks for the rope.
You have lots of opportunities here to be creative or go with the tried and true traditional anchor system.

Here is a very simple design that has suited me well. You could easily bring the anchor rope to the rower if you wanted with pulleys. I don't mind jumping back to lower and raise the anchor

Must have access to a CNC Mill or Plasma Cutter, eh. I really like the looks of it! It is artistic!

Looks like 1/2" PVC inside 3/4" Black pipe. What size rope are you going to use? Makes for a clean design, what clearance due you have between the Plug and the rope coming off the pulley at the bottom of the transom?

Cant be blk pipe, couldnt have got it into the frames. Slick looking set up though. I was wondering about that drain plug too

That's 1/2" schedule 40 PVC painted flat black. The bottom of the pulley is 1 1/2" off the bottom of the boat, just enough for the rope to clear the plug. Next time, I'd probably move the plug off center.
On the way home from the wooden boat festival last spring I stopped in Bend and bought a pyramid anchor and 3/8" anchor line - that was before Mike Baker told me 7/16 would be easier on my hands - oh well.
The drain plug is a Perko's from Jamestown.

cool setup on the bow.Did you make it?This will be my 1st drift boat.The way you are set up, when you float do you float stern 1st?.Otherwise your anchor would turn you about face.Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have rubber rafted rivers before but have never navigated let alone been in a drift boat.I am way excited to use mine when I get it done.Thankyou rick

Just in case Rick doesn't respond right away, you are correct. That type of boat is designed to go down the river stern first.
